Christmas recipe: Glühwein

Christmas recipe: Glühwein

Your winter holiday started? This calls for a celebration!
We present you our favorite Glühwein recipe. A hot wine drink which will keep you and your friends warm during the holidays.

What do you need?
¾ cup water or orange juice
¾ cup white sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 orange
10 whole cloves
1 bottle of red wine (75 cl.)

How do you make it?

Get a saucepan, combine the water or orange juice (whichever one you prefer, orange juice makes it much sweeter) with the sugar and the cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and let simmer for a while.

Next you need to cut the orange in half and squeeze the juice into the simmering water.
Push the 10 cloves you got in the outside of the orange peel and place the peel in the still simmering water.
Let it simmer for approximately 30 minutes until you get a syrup like texture.

Pour in the wine and heat until everything starts steaming (not simmering). Remove the clove-studded orange halves.

Serve hot in glass for the best possible taste!
(You may need to preheat your glass in some warm water for the best result)

Enjoy! Happy holidays.
