Love the ocean with our competition

Everyone is much more aware of the impact they have on the environment around us – especially the negative impact of ocean littering.

In a recent European-wide survey by Friends of Glass found that 82% of Britons (78% Europeans) have recently noticed a change in their behaviour and have greater awareness of the impact on the environment from their actions since concerns were raised about the problem of marine litter worldwide.

We’ve launched a competition inviting people to join in with a toast to the health of the oceans by posting a selfie or photo on social media with the hashtag #CheerstotheOcean.

Win

We’ve got £800 worth of holiday vouchers from ethical specialists Responsible Travel for the best submissions. The winner will win £500 and three runners up will be rewarded with £100 to put towards a responsible travel trip.

You could use your vouchers for a family stay in Devon or maybe you’d prefer an activity weekend of coasteering in Pembrokeshire with a friend or partner.

Get creative

The more creative the better! There are ideas and templates for making the entries as creative as possible on the Cheer to the Ocean website – so why not get the arts and craft box out to entertain the children this school holidays?

Many children have been learning about recycling at school and this competition is a great and fun way to continue that development at home. They could make their favourite sea creature and take a trip to the recycling bank or why not think about products you could swap the type of packaging into glass?

We’d love to hear what ideas your little ones come up with!

Feel good

Friends of Glass will donate £1 to the National Marine Aquarium’s education programmes for every #CheerstotheOcean post received so you can feel good entering our competition!
