We’ve decided to put together a list of the best gifts for family and friends, all made from glass, based around each line of the popular carol.
With only a week left until the big day, why not give your family and friends the gift of glass this Christmas.
Day One – A Partridge in a Pear Tree
The first line of the carol is arguably the most iconic, so we need a fitting gift for such a line. How about taking the partridge and the pear, making a lovely homemade pie and baking it in a brand new Pyrex pie dish?
Cooking in glass dishes doesn’t release any chemicals into your food, protecting the natural taste of its contents so your food tastes better.
Day Two – Two Turtle Doves
What better way to celebrate the sheer beauty of glass than by buying either yourself or a loved one this stained glass sun catcher.
The decorative ornament is hand painted to add the perfect finish to a lovely gift.
Day Three – Three French hens
When we were putting this list together, we stumbled upon the perfect representation of the third line of the 12 days of Christmas.
Three hen shaped egg cups all carved in glass to make the perfect gift for the kitchen. Find them here.
Day Four – Four Calling Birds
We know glass is better for the environment because even if it ends up in the sea, it ultimately turns back into sand.
That means it’s better for the animals that rely on the ocean ecosystem to survive, including birds that dive into the sea for their food.
You won’t attract any seabirds into your back garden with this decorative glass bird bath but you can be safe in the knowledge that you’re doing your bit for the environment.
Day Five – Five Gold Rings
While glass is indefinitely recyclable, it can also be an incredibly stylish gift.
For example, where better to keep your five gold rings than this honeycombed glass jewellery box.
Day Six – Six Geese a-laying
Not only does glass leave your food and drink unaffected when used for both cooking and packaging, but it’s also better for your health.
Glass is non-toxic, which means it doesn’t contain harmful chemicals that can get into your food.
Day Seven – Seven Swans a-swimming
Glass has routinely been used to create beautiful ornate decorations over different periods of fashion.
So dive back into the 1960s with this charming glass swan bowl.
Day Eight – Eight Maids a-milking
Milk deliveries in glass bottles are enjoying a renaissance period at the moment following a surge in demand for the traditional method of packaging.
We don’t need any encouraging to shout about how good milk tastes out of a glass bottle but the eight maids a milking line gives us an opportunity to do just that.
Find your local delivery service online or, alternatively, find a range of milk bottles to put your own milk in here.
Day Nine – Nine Ladies Dancing
What better way to get nine ladies dancing than filling these gin glasses?
They’re made from recycled glass, which not only contributes to the circular economy of glass but also saves virgin raw materials and CO2 emissions, which is better for the environment.
We like this pack of two from Next which also won’t break your bank.
Day Ten – Ten lords a-leaping
As we’ve mentioned drinks taste better in glass, that’s a fact.
With glass being a non-porous material, no liquid or air can pass through it to affect the taste of whatever is inside.
That means your favourite beverage would be kept safe and sound in this elegant decanter.
Day Eleven – Eleven Pipers Piping
Why not give the gift of knowledge this Christmas by learning more about the history of glass and how it’s made.
Sign up to a glass blowing experience, like this one, near you.
Day Twelve – Twelve Drummers Drumming
Because glass is the best packaging material for your health, as we’ve previously mentioned, that means you can indulge your sweet tooth a little more over the Christmas period.
