Meet Britain’s Beer Sommelier of the Year – Jane Peyton

As summer draws nearer, we’re looking ahead to this year’s Taste of London in Regent’s Park. The five-day event will bring together top chefs, restaurants and food producers to create a culinary extravaganza not to be missed.

Joining us on the Friends of Glass stand will be Britain’s Beer Sommelier of the Year, Jane Peyton.

Jane Peyton is Principal of the School of Booze. She is fascinated by the cultural history of alcohol and is an enthusiastic tutor, encouraging people to appreciate beer, cider, and wine by understanding how they are made.

Jane trained with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and the Beer Academy. Beer is one of her passions and she is the instigator of Beer Day Britain, Britain’s first national beer day.

As well as being a regular contributor to Huffington Post, and regular appearances on radio and TV, Jane is also author of several non-fiction books including Beer O’Clock, School of Booze, Brilliant Britain and Pub Scene.

Employing the principles of tasting – look, smell, taste, swallow, repeat – is a key part of Jane’s work. Drawing on this knowledge and expertise, Jane has been working with Friends of Glass to develop the #MapYourTaste campaign. She is our official UK Tastemaker and will be present on our stand at Taste of London, hosting beer tasting and helping attendees discover whether they are sweet, sour, spicy or salty.

Come and experience a free beer tasting session with Jane on the Friends of Glass stand at Taste of London, Regents Park 17-21 June. We look forward to meeting you there!
